Angelica – Authentic Eating

When dieting and exercising don’t work, or only temporarily help us release excess weight, there is only way to turn: inward.  This week, The DreamWorker John Vercelletto interviews Angelica about her own life struggle with her body and how after years of losing weight and gaining it back, she is finally at peace and 62 pounds lighter in body, spirit and mind.

Angelica is a intuitive body worker, reiki practitioner, mystic, spiritual counselor and tantric guide. She is visiting New York for the Fall and Winter months after living with friends and studying different spiritual modalities on the Big Island of Hawaii. In August, her and three other business partners launched AuthenticSharing.com, a Web site devoted to spiritual and ego transformation through the power of love and authentic self-expression. Through the practices of being present and connecting to her inner guidance Angelica has lost a total of 62 pounds after years of struggling with her weight. She has tried diets, pills, gyms and cleanses, only to discover that the only path that worked and was permanent was to change her inner self. You can “do” lots of things but if you aren’t feeling empowered in your beingness to actually change, nothing will work. Because of her commitment to spiritual growth, she ended her war with fat and food and started accepting — and then eventually loving — her body and seeing food as nourishment.

Angelica states:

One of the main processes in this transformation was emotional clearing. That means, being present to what is present while opening the refrigerator or pulling up to the drive-thru window. Most times, it was not hunger that was driving me to eat, it’s difficult or uncomfortable emotions. Food is a good way to stuff. By having a commitment to personal truth and discovering my ideal weight, instead of eating, I would confront these emotions by hitting a punching bag, letting the tears flow, meditating or simply setting an intention to eat authentically.   When you accept and feel what is actually present, you start responding to life and yourself in new ways, rather than repeating activities and ignoring what’s really going on. You bring your consciousness to the present. And as you continually do that, everything changes.

TDW 10 – The Hot Chics Guide to Breast Cancer with Author Joie Gavigan

Published by admin under Podcast

The DreamWorker Live interviews Author of “The Hot Chics Guide to Breast Cancer”, Joie Gavigan.  You can listen to “The DreamWorker Live” radio show each and every Sunday at 11 PM ET US at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/thedreamworker

Joie learned how to become a “Hot Chick” ten years ago when diagnosed with breast cancer that required a subsequent bone-marrow transplant.  In the middle of a divorce after more than twenty years with the same person, not knowing how many songs she had left, Joie went out dancing the day of diagnosis.  She read all the “Hot Chick” books and magazines she could find, found fantastic doctors, bought a new wardrobe, upgraded her professional credentials, re-invented herself, and raised her son.  Joie’s NYC oncologist called her “The most positive client he ever had.” People often ask her how she did it.  “Become an imbiber, not a survivor” is her basic response.

Joie has been empowering teachers, students and writers for the past twenty years in her roles as a Teacher Center Director and Literary Projects instructor. Joie has presented seminars at conferences from NYC to Beijing.  She has been a conference key note speaker and has written grant proposals, articles, press releases and published newsletters, newspapers, literary journals and poetry collections.  She is an educational consultant, a National Board Certified English Teacher and a member of the cadre of staff developers for New York State United Teachers. In her writing journeys, Joie has danced in Shanghai, Paris, New Orleans, Maui, Sardegna, Havannah and many other exotic places.  Currently, she’s working on the Hot Chick series and a screenplay.
