Think Tank - Think, Solve, Create

Think Tank -  Think, Solve, Create

what is it?

Simplistically speaking, “Think Tank” is a workshop on problem solving.  The real answer is much longer.  Think Tank is…

1.…a program designed to enhance the thinking and problem solving skills of each child to be able to make decisions and learn coursework.  They will learn the techniques used by some of the greatest thinkers in history!

2.…a fun and creative way for children to learn by bypassing the critical factor and teaching children needed skills without any agenda or mandated curriculum.

3.…a way for children to be a part of a group, to learn the skills that are needed to go along with that type of social climate, and to build esteem in your child as we invent, create, and solve both individually, and as a team.

In summary, Think Tank is a group workshop that over time teaches children the skills they need to learn in school, become socially adept, and succeed in the future.

Skills they will learn

Problem Solving
Creative Thinking
Observation Techniques
Listening, Focus and Attention Skills
Builds Self Esteem
Social Interaction
Decision Making

What do you do during a session?

The answer to this is not that simple.  Each day and group is different.  We work with the children as a guide; they make the decisions as to where the group goes and what they will do.

No, they do not have free reign, there are guidelines that they must follow and the teachers will guide the students as they see fit.  The needs and goals of each group are taken into account.  Some groups may work on many projects at one time in subgroups based on talents, skill level, desire, and need.

Some typical examples of “tasks” are listed below:

Detective Workshops
(think Sherlock Holmes, Monk and Psych)
Techniques of Thomas Edison, Ben Franklin, Leonardo DiVinci, and more!
Decision making games (decision / outcome)
Games requiring following instructions
Creative writing
Visualization techniques
Setting project timelines and assigning tasks
Inventing sports, games, computer programs
Community service projects

think tank goal and mission

To teach the skills and techniques needed to empower our students to solve the problems of each individual and the community while building esteem and growing as individuals.
